Sexuality & Somatics
Somatics is the intuitive relationship between one’s mind, body, energy, and spirit. Being somatic is being connected to wholeness or one’s WHOLE-Self. Additionally, somatics is a wellness approach that incorporates mind, body, energy, and spirit into daily self-care practices. Sexology is the scientific study of human sexuality, including human sexual interests, behaviors, and functions informed by one's WHOLE-Self. Somatic intelligence refers to the ability to intuitively connect and integrate the mind, body, and energy in a way that fosters self-awareness, emotional regulation, and well-being. It involves recognizing and responding to the body’s signals, sensations, and energy flows to make decisions that support physical and emotional health. In the context of sexuality, somatic intelligence helps individuals enhance their awareness of pleasure, boundaries, and sexual identity by tuning into how their body communicates through sensation and movement.
Journey Wellness (JW) offers a WHOLE-Self somatic healing to understanding and experiencing pleasure-affirming sexuality by integrating decolonial trauma-informed somatic practices with sexology. With JW, clients will explore the WHOLE-Self interconnectedness of mind, body, energy, & spirit in the context of sexual pleasure, sexual healing, and sexual wellness. Moving from trauma-narrative to healing narrative, clients will learn practical somatic tools to enhance their understanding and experience of their sexuality from a place of embodied safety and self-trust. Additionally, Journey Wellness provides professional learning intensives and continuing education in the areas of sexuality and somatics.
